Welcome to LISp
Laboratory for Intelligent Systems Prague

The aim of the laboratory is to perform research and development of technologies
for design and experimental testing of intelligent systems which are applicable in various areas of economy.

In 1996, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports announced a new program whose goal was to support research at Czech universities. In the framework of this program, universities were able to submit proposals for the establishment of new research departments and institutions, together with their research plans for the years 1996 - 2004. The project for the foundation of the Laboratory for Intelligent Systems at the University of Economics Prague, was one of those which were eventually awarded financial support.

According to the project, the goal of the Laboratory is the research and development of technologies applicable in intelligent systems, and the experimental verification of these tools on practical problems (namely with economic orientation). Specifically, research activities in the Laboratory are mainly oriented to the following three areas:

  • uncertain knowledge modelling in the framework of both additive and non-additive measures,
  • knowledge discovery in databases,
  • intelligent search for relevant information.

From 2005 to 2006 continued the activities and results of the previous program but research work with the same or similar content has continued within individual departments at the University of Economics Prague.

Since 2007 the scope continues by the new research plan of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports as Methods of knowledge acquisition from data and their use in economical decision-making at the University of Economics Prague.

The scope of scientific areas is divided into following basic domains:

  • knowledge acquisition and data analysis,
  • knowledge representation, processing and use.

The detailed description of these two principal fields of scientific research is available.
